Top Ten Current Musicians

G’Day everyone. Today I’m sharing another Top Ten post (http://mralmoore.blogspot.com.au/2015/07/top-10-entertainers-of-all-time.html), this time for the Best Current Musicians.
To follow up from my previous post, today I will give my opinion on the Top 10 Live Musicians of 2015.

To start, here’s some honourable mentions:
1.
Nick Jonas: With his recent launch of his solo career after his time with the Jonas Brothers he has been producing hit after hit with songs like Jealous and Chains. Jonas’s cracking vocals lead me to think he has a mega career ahead of him.

2. Troye Sivan also deserves an honourable mention. He first found fame on YouTube, and in 2012 produced the song “Happy Little Pill.” Sivan has been labelled as the future of pop music by big names like Taylor Swift. His first album recently came out, called “Blue Neighbourhood” featuring great songs like Wild, Fools, and Youth on it. Sivan is definitely set to be a mega musician.

Now, here’s my list of the Top Ten Musicians of 2015
10. Number Ten on the list is the first signing of Ed Sheeran’s new record company, Gingerbread Man Records and that is Jamie Lawson. Lawson had been performing in local British pubs when Ed Sheeran noticed his amazing voice, and signed him up straight away. With his first hit song Wasn’t Expecting That, Lawson is currently touring Europe, and recently announced an Australian tour in 2016. Lawson’s self-titled album has numerous touching and beautiful songs such as Cold in Ohio and Don’t Let Me Go.

9. Number 9 on the list is George Ezra. With his baritone/tenor voice, George Ezra is another British mega star. With his hit song last year, Budapest, Ezra is simply amazing. Ezra has had big success with other hit songs like Blame it on Me and Listen to the Man. He is currently performing shows around the world, promoting his album that came out last year, “Wanted on Voyage.”

8. Number 8 on the list is British singer and songwriter, James Bay. With his powerful vocals, and hit songs like ‘Hold Back the River’ and ‘Let it Go’, James Bay is definitely a future mega star. His album “Chaos and the Calm” is one that I highly recommend and he is set to perform in Australian next year. Bay will be performing in late January/early February, which will be a concert not to miss.

7. Number 7 on the list is the highly entertaining and talented DJs Disclosure. Working with such artists like Sam Smith to produce hits like ‘Latch’ and ‘Omen’ and Lorde to make the new hit ‘Magnets’, the pair of brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence, are truly talented. Their new album, “Caracal” recently came out this year, and is worth a listen

6. Coming in at number 6 is Selena Gomez. After a break, Gomez has found her niche and perfected her individual ‘sound’. With her new album that came out this year, “Revival” which includes hit songs like Good for You and Same Old Love, Gomez is currently a mega force in the music industry. Due to her crisp voice, and her new found style she comes in at number 6 in the list.

5. We are now at the half way mark of our list and number 5 on the list is Sam Smith. The British singer has had huge amount of success this past year since the release of the mega-hit song Stay With Me. Smith was first seen when he collaborated with English DJ, Naughty Boy on the mega hit ‘La La La’ but when it came out, people just knew the words and the tune, not the man behind the vocals. Smith’s big break didn’t come until he wrote, nearly two years later, ‘Stay With Me.’ Sam Smith’s dominance in the music scene was shown all throughout last year and continues throughout this year as he wraps up a world tour to write his next album. Sam Smith is the artist that defined 2014/2015, so it will be interesting to see what 2016 brings for this talented man.

4. Number 4 on list is The Weeknd. Born in Toronto, Canada, Abel Makkonen Tesfaye (whose stage name is The Weeknd) is one of the best live performers today. I first noticed him because he sounds so very similar to the great Michael Jackson. Abel is surely on the road to musical success. With such hits like ‘The Hills’ (which had two remixes made featuring Eminem and Nicki Minaj) and ‘Can’t Feel my Face’ The Weeknd is currently touring his album “Beauty Behind the Madness” which I often find myself jamming out to.

3. Now, one a year ago, I would not be giving any praise to this next person but people change and grow and this is why Justin Bieber is number three. When his first single, ‘Baby’ came out, it was hard to find a positive thing to say about him, but in past five years (and a night in jail) Bieber seems to have evolved and matured. For example, here is a recent version of ‘Baby’ he performed on the American Today Show.

Five years since Bieber first came onto our computer and phone screens, and after years of hating on him, it’s hard not to enjoy his music. This year Bieber broke his three-year hiatus and released his album, “Purpose.” Now, after listening to the album I find a new song to love every time I listen to it. Whether it be the instant hit, Sorry or the simple guitar song Love Yourself, “Purpose” has an amazing variety of ‘pop’ type music and slowed down, guitar/piano songs, like the song Life is Worth Living. Bieber is apparently going on a world tour to promote his new album. Might be worth a look!

2. When we think of pop stars, the next person on our list is surely the Queen of Pop: Taylor Swift has been labelled as the singer of our generation by many reviewers and her stellar vocals reinforce this label.  Beginning as a country singer, it took T-Swizzle a while to find her style of music, but after the release of her album, “Red” in 2012 (which included hits like ‘I Knew you were Trouble, and ‘22’) she found her style of music and the world loved her mix of country and pop.

After touring the world with her “Red” album, Swift took time off to work on her album, “1989” which came out last year (2014). This album is probably Swift’s most successful to date, producing hits songs like Shake it Off, Blank Space and Style. Swift is now continuing on her stadium world tour of her album “Red” and is about to wrap up the tour in Australia. Taylor Swift’s incredible and powerful vocals, and the way she inspires numerous kids and teenagers by acting as a role model lands her at number two on my list.

1. From an unbiased opinion the next person has to be number one on nearly any list like this, and with his incredible guitar playing skills and the way he performs live, Ed Sheeran tops off my list. After a long and tiring struggle performing in pubs, and on street corners, Ed has successfully become one, if not the biggest, musicians of the past ten years. Sheeran’s success first was seen with the release of his 2011 album “+” (read as plus) which has many hits on it including ‘Lego House’.

The way he performs live and how he sounds nearly exactly like it does on the album, has to make him of the best. After the release of his album in 2011, Ed Sheeran toured, but performing small arenas or pubs. In 2014, Ed Sheeran released his album, “x” (read as multiply). After a successful world tour, Ed announced that he would perform at Wembley Stadium, undoubtedly every musician’s goal…and, due to high demand, he sold it out three nights in a row. On his album “x”, (which is one of my favourite albums) you can hear hits like Thinking Out Loud, Photograph and my favourite I’m a Mess. Ed Sheeran has is a must-see when he comes to your town.

Top 10 Entertainers of All Time

We often think of Musicans and which is the best, so I have come up with a list, of 10 Musicians who I believe are the greatest entertainers of all time.

Before we get strated, a special number 11 will be added...and that is George Ezra. Coming on to the music scene in 2014 was hard, having to follow artist's such as Sam Smith and Taylor Swifts continuing rising, but Ezra is amazing, he has a strong voice, and he is charastmatic. This young fella out of the United Kingdom has a big future ahead of him

Let's get the Top 10 started...!

10. Michael Buble
With a great voice and a talent for singing twists of Jazz and Pop, Michael Buble starts the list off. Born on September 9th, 1975 in Burnaby, Canada, Buble grew up with a small family of fishermen, but, in 2005 Buble achieved his first number one hit: Caught in the Act. After countless awards and countless Number One hits…Michael Buble is still going strong. He starts off my list because of his amazing vocals, and his charismatic way of entertaining a crowd.

9. Ed Sheeran
Born on the 17th of February, 1991, Ed Sheeran has one of the best clear crisp voices today. After busking in the streets of London, he produced his first EP in 2005, called The Orange Room. Nearly 10 years later he achieved his first number one hit in the United States, Thinking out Loud. Sheeran is now on a world wide Stadium tower and will be landing his vocals and his guitars in Australian shores in November/December (for the second time this year!)

8. Ella Fitzgerald
Born in Virginia, United States on the 25th of April, Ella Fitzgerald, or the First Lady of Jazz, paved the way for not only female singers, and not only jazz singers, but for black singers, making her great vocals, with a big and powerful voice heard by everyone. Ella would entertain crowds for 20 years and her Christmas album is still a favorite for thousands of fans each year.

7. John Denver
Denver, born in Roswell, United States, on December 31st 1943, had numerous number hits, and his ‘country’ voice helped shaped country music. Denver’s most popular song would have to be Take me Home Country Roads. Denver has shaped the way that country music is performed and received for all generations.

6. Sam Smith
Born in the United Kingdom, London at aged 23, Sam Smith is the voice of my generation. With his MEGA hit Stay With Me, Sam Smith was shot into stardom. His counter tenor voice, changed the way we listen to music from the tenor range to a higher pitched voice. Smith is still producing hit songs including I’m Not the Only One and Like I Can. Smith will not only have success now, but forever.

5. Justin Timberlake.
With his Michael Jackson dance moves, and his crisp clear voice, JT is the number five on my list. His career started with teen band NSYNC, and, in 2000 he started his solo career. Timberlake’s voice and incredible dance moves always gets the crowd to their feet and always entertains. JT will go down as one of the best entertainers of his generation.

4. Robbie Williams
Born on February 13th, 1974 in Stroke-on-Trent, United Kingdom, Robbie Williams started his music career with the pop group ‘Take That’ from 1990-1995. Then, in 1996, he started a solo career. With his big hit, Let Me Entertain You, Robbie continued to produce hits. He also produced a Jazz/Swing album, Swing When You’re Winning, which found him a whole new fan base. With his great vocals, and his charismatic style, he is always making the crowd happy and energized. Robbie’s musical career will continue for many years to come due to his energy and vocal skills.

3. Mariah Carey
In 1990 Carey rose to stardom with her first album: Mariah Carey. This album made the world realize what a fantastic and diverse voice she has. Mariah Carey is not only the most successful female recording artist of all time, but she has one of the best vocals of all time, of both males and females. Her skill to involve the crowd in her performances makes her number three on this list. Carey will continue to make music, and will always be a legend of the music industry.

2. Freddie Mercury
When people think of musicians, the front man of Queen, Freddie Mercury must come to mind. With his incredible vocals, scaling an amazing EIGHT octaves and his incredible piano playing skills, Freddie is one of the greatest musicians of all time. Not only is he one of the greatest musicians, he is one of the greatest entertainers of all time, always making the crowd stay on their feet, and always inspiring thousands. Freddie’s music skill and entertaining skills puts him at number two.

1. Michael Jackson'
I believe that there will never be a singer, musician, and entertain like Michael Jackson ever again, or, for a long time at least. MJ's hits, MJ's dance moves, MJ's charismatic skill puts him at number one on my list of Top 10 Entertainers. Thank You Michael.

iPhoneography Tips

Howdy Folks. We all love taking photos, whether it be of your pet cat Lucinda or of the most amazing flower you have seen, or maybe of the most recent 5SOS concert you were dragged to. But, how can we get the best results when taking pictures? This post, with a few iPhoneography Tips, will hopefully help you with your photography.

Tip 1: Turn on HDR
One of the best features on the iPhone is the HDR Feature. It can make any photo, a sensational photo. The HDR Photo takes three burst photos at once so don’t be alarmed when it takes a while to process and save the image!

Difference between HDR and Normal

As you can see  there a few close up differences, such as the perfect colour on the rocks, ocean and the boat. This feature is amazing; not only can it make your photo clear and less blurry, but the HDR feature makes your picture’s colours pop out!
To find the HDR feature all you have to do is; Go to your Camera
Go to the HDR Feature
and turn it on!

Tip 2: Avoid Zooming
One of the most common photo-taking mistakes is zooming in too early. To get the best quality photos take the picture first then zoom in! The difference is outstanding.

Tip 3: The Rule of Three
One amazing feature of the iPhone is the grid. Most people think that placing the object in the middle is better but the most artistic and most stunning pictures can be made by placing the object in the right column.

Right Column

By doing this the results of your picture can be outstanding. It can make your picture go from great to extraordinary.

Tip 4: Avoid Instagram Filters
Yes the Instagram filters can make your picture look good, but they just don’t cut it. The Instagram filters aren’t only bland but they can affect the quality of the picture. One of the best apps for filters is ‘Afterlight’

Afterlight is only 99 cents and comes with heaps of free filters and you can even make your own but to get all the filters you have to pay around $5 or $6. I have the free version and it still works great!

Well I hope you all learned something new. We all love taking photos but why not make the photos, amazing and breathtaking. Just follow these four quick and easy tips, and you’ll be an #iPhonegraphy expert!

 Cheers,
Al
